Dripping tap
Usually a worn washer. Turn off the water, unscrew the tap head, and replace the washer — a 10-minute job.
Blocked drain
Try a plunger first, then a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Avoid harsh chemicals if you have septic tanks.
Low water pressure
Check if the isolating valve is fully open. Limescale in showerheads is another common cause — soak in vinegar overnight.
Running toilet
Often a faulty flapper valve in the cistern. Cheap to replace and stops wasted water.
Leaking pipe
Turn off your stopcock immediately and call a professional. Don't attempt a permanent fix yourself unless you're confident.
